Gym leaders should be HARD and have a cool gimmick, and Unbound DELIVERSPokemon Unbound in Difficult mode. Recently I completed pokemon unbound in Vanilla difficulty and now decided to shift my difficulty to Difficult. Now I am at first gym battle and Gloom uses sleep powder on all my mons. I feel like there is no way to win this battle unless I specifically tech my pokemon to fight against the gym.

Here's an answer pertaining to Emerald. All trainer Pokemon have a difficulty value between 0 and 250. The game takes that value, divides by 10, and gives them EVs and IVs equal to the result.
